PATIENT’S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I bring to my visit to the blood lab?

Required Documents:
Please bring a completed blood test requisition form from your healthcare provider along with your health card, IFH, or Green Shield. Ensure that all your information on the requisition is complete, including your full name, date of birth, address, health card number, and phone number. Read more

 

Doctor-Sent the Requisition:
If your doctor has sent the requisition directly to the lab, please contact our client services to verify that it has been received.

Do you take appointments, or do you accept walk-ins only?

Patients can walk in without an appointment, except for the following tests:

  • Genetic Tests
  • Fertility Tests
  • Lactose Tolerance Test

Do you offer home lab services?

Yes, MLW offers home lab services Monday to Friday. Visit our Home Lab page to schedule your appointment.

What are the hours of operation for the specimen collection centres?

Visit the Specimen Collection Centre Locator and Hours page for the most up-to-date information.

Holiday closures may affect operating hours.

Can I know estimated wait times for the Specimen Collection Centres?

Estimated waiting time is posted online, during business hours, by our Net Check-in service. Check in online before you head to a Specimen Collection Centre.

Will my test report be sent to my ordering healthcare provider?

Patient test results will be automatically sent to the ordering healthcare provider upon completion.

Can I access my test results?

Patients can access their test results through the MLW Patient Portal, except for microbiology and pathology results.

 

This service is available for patients with OHIP coverage who are 18 years or older. For more information on how to sign up for the MLW Patient Portal, please visit our website and watch the instructional video for detailed guidance

How can I pay for a test?

If you have received an invoice in the mail relating to services provided which are not covered – please follow one of the following methods of payment:

 

1. PAY ONLINE: Pay your invoice online

 

2. PAY VIA PHONE: Pay by credit card (VISA, Mastercard or AMEX) by calling our billing department at 519-258-1991 Ext 301. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

3. PAY VIA CHEQUE: Pay by cheque by filling out the bottom portion of your invoice and attaching the associated cheque then mailing it to :

4. PAY IN PERSON: Pay your invoice in person at our main office at:

What is the turnaround time for blood test results

Test results are usually completed at MLW within approximately 24-72 hours. Some tests may be referred to a reference lab, which could result in a longer turnaround time.
